Stupid People?
I’ve heard a phrase over and over lately concerning people seemingly turning a blind eye to the change in our government and our churches: That phrase is “STUPID PEOPLE”. I heard this phrase from my friend this morning and I assured her, or tried to, it is not that people are stupid (the people referenced in our conversation, and other conversations, were not of less intelligence). I told my friend that the “blind eye” or apathetic heart is Biblical for God said it would happen as the time approaches for His glorious return to catch us away, whether alive or dead, up to Heaven to be with Him for eternity.
Out of our conversation this morning came my need to see it in the Bible again…to refresh my memory and my spirit. I encourage those who read this post to do likewise. The following passages of God’s Word certainly answer a lot of questions all of us have, should have, or will have.
I Timothy 4:1-15:
II Timothy 3:1-17
II Peter 2:1-3, 3:3
2Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
So, what is the answer for us in this day of adverse change all around us? We are to watch in all things and do what God asks us to do–the work of an evangelist; speak God’s Word, stand fast in the truths of His Word and present the Gospel. AND we are to make full proof of our ministry…be a living epistle befitting the grace and glory of God.
verses 4-5 ” And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.”
“full proof” Strong’s Concordance: plērophoreō
play-rof-or-eh’-o to carry out fully (in evidence), that is, completely assure (or convince), entirely accomplish: – most surely believe, fully know (persuade), make full proof of.
“ministry” Strong’s Concordance: dee-ak-on-ee’-ah
attendance (as a servant, etc.); figuratively (eleemosynary) aid, (official) service (especially of the Christian teacher, or technically of the diaconate): – (ad-) minister (-ing, -tration, -try), office, relief, service (-ing).
